Dr Ayub Khan Ommayya

Dr Ayub Khan Ommayya, MD, Sc. D., MA, FRCS, FACS was a leading neurosurgeon of Pakistani origin who served locally as well as abroad. He was considered an authority in the field of neurosurgery. His work in treating patients with an invented technique named after him 'Ommayya reservoir' earned him international fame. Apart from this groundbreaking work, he also published research in leading journals in the field.
His academic and professional career was an illustrious one throughout during which he earned Rhodes scholarship to study at Oxford. He was also a national level swimmer during his youth. During his medical career, he was also casted in a Hollywood movie, 'Lorenzo's oil'.
This trailblazing talented surgeon breathed his last on July 11th, 2008 in Islamabad, Pakistan.
