Amazing Pakistani Heroes
Haris Suleman

He started flying at a young age sharing the passion with his father. He decided to embark on a mission that was gigantic and would have placed him in records books. Haris Suleman ventured on a round the world flight in a record attempt of becoming the youngest pilot doing this. However, he wasn't interested in records alone. His aim was much bigger like his heart. He wanted to raise a million dollars for the cause of education in general and The Citizens Foundation (TCF) in particular.
He had completed most of his journey and had achieved half of the fund-raising goal. Unfortunately, it was the last leg of their flight in which they met with a fatal crash and achieved martyrdom. Their story of their sacrifice became a shocking news first and a renewed sense of vigor to carry on their mission. The incident was widely covered around the world, earning the praise for the young martyr and his father from all corners. Many recalled their recent landing at Karachi airport as part of this expedition and paid tributes to both father and son.
It remains heartening that only days after the fateful incident a close friend of the family, Ashar Aziz announced that he will donate the remaining funds for the fundraising goal. Many people wrote about the amazing story that ended tragically but glorified Haris Suleman and his father, Babar Suleman for generations to come. In August 2014, government of Pakistan decided to bestow Sitara-e-Imtiaz to Haris Suleman for his heroic feat.
