Javed Jabbar

He is unarguably one of the most acclaimed experts in mass media and development related issues in Pakistan. At the dawn of 21st century, Javed Jabbar had a chance to strategize country’s first policy related to media affairs. He is credited with formulation of country’s policy framework on media at the time when new channels and new media started taking shape in the country. His expertise in the field is augmented by his authoritative and opinionated stances on social and development issues. Javed Jabbar also pleaded the case for freedom of information which he contested at the Supreme Court of Pakistan with Government being the respondent. He has authored scores of articles, books as well as movies and advertisements and is among few living experts in the field who have been subject of different publications.
Javed Jabbar also has vast experience in national and international policy making organizations in areas related to social development and environment. He also founded an advertising agency, MNJ Advertising from where several employees under his mentorships went on to be success stories in advertising landscape of Pakistan. His achievements and contributions have been recognized with several awards, both locally and globally. During different governments, he has served three different terms as a federal minister, as well as senator and advisor to Federal government on information and media related affairs.

One of her movies, Ramchand Pakistani was written and produced by Javed Jabbar himself and was showcased internationally to receive several awards. Javed Jabbar has to his credit ‘Beyond the Last Mountain’ which remains to this day Pakistan’s only English language feature film. The Urdu version of the movie was titled ‘Musafir’.
