Shahbaz Ahmad led Pakistani hockey team to victory in World Cup, Asia Cup, Champions trophy and an participated in other successful events for Pakistani hockey. Besides being a successful captain, Shahbaz was an amazing player as well. He is said to be Pakistan's finest forwards and is also regarded as 'Maradona of Hockey'. He was awarded best player of tournament in two successive World Cups of 1990 (Lahore) and 1994 (Sydney) and is the only player in history of hockey to have achieved this amazing feat. Shahbaz Ahmad was awarded 'Pride of Performance' by Government of Pakistan in 1992.
