Syed Babar Ali
He is credited with setting up LUMS, one of Pakistan's leading business schools, and he is also known for his leadership roles in many business houses including Packages, Nestle Pakistan, IGI Pakistan and Unilever Pakistan. But many people do not realize his true contributions. While he has achieved a lot in terms of corporate success, his few other contributions and achievements are as follows.
Syed Babar Ali setup Ali Institute of Education which is one of finest training institutes for training teachers in Pakistan. This is an area which always lacked attention and it was Syed Babar Ali, an industrialist who invested in this project.
Apart from this, Syed Babar Ali has also been a key figure in WorldWide Fund for Nature, commonly known as WWF and has served as International President for WWF from 1996 to 1999.
He received OBE from British government and an honorary doctorate from McGill University (Canada) apart from other awards from Governments of Sweden and Netherlands.
